Open Admission Policy

I feel open enrollment is a good thing. I feel it’s a good thing because it let’s whoever wants an education get an education. I also feel it’s a good thing because it allows people with a GED have a second chance, not everyone may have chosen the right path at one point in their life. Another thing is I don’t feel that open enrollment takes money from the ones that won’t succeed. I feel it’s up to a student to determine how well they do during their time at a college. There could also be other contributing factors on how well a student may or may not do. I have a GED because I at one point didn’t finish high school and I want to succeed more than ever in college and I want to get a degree. It can be very challenging at times and you personally have to want to do it. But on the other hand I suffer from severe depression and at times that can get in the way of my studies but I try my best. Some reasons why others might think open enrollment is not a good thing is lowering of their standards but everyone is entitled to an education so why deny someone and like you had said knowingly taking money from the ones who are going to not succeed in their time in college. Another reason is someone might feel they worked really hard to accomplish the grades they did and then you have someone who slacked or has a GED.

Sixteen and Driving

I feel sixteen year olds need more time behind the wheel before they are able to possess a driver’s license. I also feel if there is a driving course available at their school that they should be required to take it. The statistics show motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death among teenagers. Sixteen year olds also have higher crash rates than any other age. Some risk factors for teenage drivers are poor hazard protection, low risk perception, risk taking, lack of skill, and not wearing a seatbelt. I also seen on the news that there are cars that in able for the radio will turn on the driver and passenger have to have their seatbelt on if not the radio will not come on. That to me is a really good incentive to wear your seatbelt because I could’t imagine not listening to the radio. I did not get my drivers license to I was twenty-five and having a daughter makes me a safe driver. I must worry about her safety, she is my number one priority.

No Health Insurace for Immigrants

I read a news article on immigrants and that they will not be able to get insurance even if they are willing to pay for the insurance out of their pocket. People feel if that health insurance will give them the incentive to come to America therefore becoming a tax burden on us. That’s a bunch of crap we pay for other Americans to commit welfare fraud as well as people being on SSI and not truly needing, we pay for criminals to be in jail so on so on. I don’t think it’s fair to pin point and single out a certain group. I feel if there were and contribute then what’s the big deal. Some immigrants are hard workers and bust their ass. I bet there are even employees who knowingly hire illegal immigrants, why pay a lot when you can pay alittle. I think it’s really unfair and I feel sorry for them.

Today's Technology Good or Bad?

I feel today’s technology has its pro’s and con’s. I feel this way because the good technology offers us is in so many ways are it makes a lot of things in our lives easier paying bills, staying in touch with family and friends, looking for employment, shopping- it’s like we almost don’t have to leave our home’s but on the other hand that could be on the bad side of things. You can find anything virtually possible from medical advice, how top’s, recipes, activities, and the list goes on and on. Now for the cons of technology, child predators are able to victimize children easier, identity theft, causing accident’s and even deaths. Pornography is another big thing that seems to pollute the internet and it can cause people to neglect their families, children, and their jobs. Today’s technology can be addicting to some people to the point they forget who and what is around them. So much time can pass in one’s life and once they realize it it’s too late. People get caught up in the fantasy world and lose touch with reality. It’s sad to see someone spend every night after work sit in front of a computer and ignore everything around them, that’s coming from experience. But everyone is their own and is entitled to live life how they want.

Will Enough Ever Be Enough?

Will enough ever be enough for me and will I ever be truly be happy? This blog is about me and something I’m trying to understand. I think a lot and my mind is always going, it never stops. I feel nothing is ever enough for me. It’s this urge inside me that wants more and more and it’s never satisfied. It could be with money and with my relationship. I always have to have and I always want and it drives me crazy because I don’t want to be like this. I see I’ve passed this type of behavior on to my daughter and now she’s just like me. I’m not very proud of it. My daughter is five and her attitude is ugly. She’s constantly wanting and when she doesn’t get her way I pay for it but I made her that way and I’m trying to change her ways and it’s so hard and frustrating. I know people who are content with the necessity’s and their happy, that true happiness. The happiness I want. I find my happiness in material things, I have to have the best and everything name brand. I think it stems from my childhood. Growing up I never had nice things. I always had second hand clothes but when I hit my teenage years and had started working that’s when it all started. My boyfriend and I just went ring shopping at Kay’s and he bought me a five hundred dollar ring when my limit was three hundred. I know he gave into me just so he didn’t have to hear me complain. I need some advice what can I do to try and change this behavior of mine? All I want is to be happy, I want true happiness

Halfway Houses

Has anyone besides me ever stop and think why the halfway houses in York are located in some of the worse neighborhoods in York. Is that setting them up for failure or what? For instance some of the houses I know of are the one Belvidere and up the street is west princess, one on east Prospect Street which is near Pine Street, and one on south duke street. Men and women come from surrounding areas in hope to become clean and sober and there is temptation all around them. I can’t seem to understand how that is helping them any and I are not saying everyone fails but I’m sure there are a lot that do. I feel if baseball stadiums can be built then why can’t have halfway houses in more decent areas. There probably wouldn’t be a lot of people to comfortable with that idea but let’s face it anything can happen to anyone at anytime no matter how safe you might feel. No one’s saying they have to be like the private resorts but some place nice so they have a greater chance at recovery but I’m sure a lot of things get overlooked due to budgets and importance.

I cannot believe the show at Sea World is up and running only four days after the trainer dawn Brancheau was drowned by a killer whale. They believe her ponytail might have been mistaken as a toy by the whale. They said she knew the risks associated with her job and thaw’s all fine but why would they had knowingly brought this whale to Orlando when it had killed while it was in can dada in 1991 and killed a man in 1999. Threes no decision on what is to happen to this whale but maybe this particular whale shouldn’t be doing shows or possibly put back in the wild if that’s even a option. I know people love what they do and you can’t take that an away from them but I feel this all could have simply been avoided in some way or somehow. I even feel that Sea World should be held accountable as well. Sea world said Dawn was one of the most experienced trainers they had and this is how you show your deepest sympathies by continuing on four days later, to me that would be a slap in the face. Is money that important?? You can make money at anytime but you can never get a life back.

K2

Passing a law that would make possession of K2 a felony, no wonder jails are over populated, people are going to jail for every little thing. It hasn't shown to do any harm as we know, so what's the big deal. People are always creating things, this becomes illegal there will be something new. Put the taxespayers money into something more deserving not paying for someone to sit in jail for seven years because they were caught with fake pot.

I feel the ten missionaries from Idaho who were arrested trying to take children from Haiti to Dominican Republic should remain in prison while the investigation continues. They were warn that because they did not have the appropriate paper work to take the children that they were going to be arrested but they still proceeded. The missionaries had said they were taking only kids who no longer had any living relatives. That was a lie because during the investigation the parents of some of the children had spoke up and said they had willing gave the missionaries their children. The parents thought the Americans could better take care of them and better educate them because of them losing everything to the hurricane. I feel the missionaries were taking advantage of the situation; they thought they could just sneak in and take the children without being noticed. Because of their actions people feel the journalist is paying more attention to the ten missionaries than to the three million Haitians who are in need of help. There’s also talk about child trafficking, which children are sold as sex slaves and illegal adoption. Like I said I feel they should have to sit and wait to hear their fate, they were warned and chose not to care about their actions or the consequences. Since the missionaries feel they did not do anything wrong why they wouldn’t have gotten the appropriate documents needed. That makes you wonder what their real intentions were.

Abortion: My only reason to consider.

In the event a woman is raped and becomes pregnant, her choice to have an abortion, to me is justifiable. The moment she was raped her choice was taken from her. On the other hand I have the upmost respect for the women who decide to keep their child. I personally knew a woman who had conceived by rape and she chose to keep her son and she loves him very much and accepted what had happened but I personally would not be able to handle having a constant reminder. I know it may sounds harsh referring to a child as a constant reminder but I’d be afraid that s what I would see when I looked at my child and I would in no way want to cause my child any emotional damage.
There are no other justifiable reasons to consider abortion. If we simply don’t have any desire wanting to get pregnant, there are so many products available to us women to help delay having a child or we can simply abstain from having sex all together. Abortion makes it easier for us to not have to accept responsibility for our actions. I know firsthand what it’s like accepting responsibilities for your actions; I had my first child when I was a child myself.
I know not everyone is going to agree with what I wrote but I’m acceptable of others opinions which might help me look at this topic in a different way. So please don’t hesitate to say how you feel.
